HOW TO WEAR THIS SEASON'S HOTTEST COLOUR - YELLOW

Hello lovelies hope you are having a good week. I am having a pretty good week and I'm very excited to have guest blogger for ANEMISTYLE this week.

Lizzy Riley is a fashion savvy, coffee loving, Oxford living and working city girl with great style and a gorgeous warm personality. I met her recently and shamelessly asked her to write for my blog and to my surprise she said YES! Lizzy is a recent graduate with a First Class BA Honours Fashion Promotion with Communication graduate so she knows what she is talking about.

Today's post by Lizzy Riley on how to wear this season's hottest colour yellow. ENJOY!
...................................................................................................................................................................

Despite flash flooding’s, windy rainy days and rumored snow forecasts, sunshine is making a dramatic appearance on the fashion forecast as the opulent dancing hues of yellow burst forth into this seasons wardrobe.

The vibrantly electric yellow hue is one of the hottest shades jumping off the trending colour palettes as it sizzles off the catwalk onto the high street. Think all things bright from canary yellow, sherbet yellow, lemon, yellow, and custard mellow yellows, this is a core trending favourite this season.

Walking into the stores for a little bit of retail therapy last week, I felt overwhelmed by the startlingly powerfully bright (dare I say on occasional garish) hues of yellow amidst the monochromes, blues and pinks. Over powerful yellow’s flash before me, as my eyes dart around hoping to find the perfect shade of yellow that would suit my natural pale peaches and cream skin tone. A part of me was secretly wishing I had brought my sunglasses to divert away from the gleaming pops of colour.  If yellow is a must, I would opt for an ice cool breezy shade from the colour spectrum, however this season it appears to be all about the bold, the bright and the beautiful rich mellow shades.

Not one for giving up, now determined and focused, my attention was soon diverted to the array of buttery and vivid yellow accessories that saluted me as I wandered around stores such as Zara, French Connection, Whistles and River Island.  From boxy bags, embellished necklaces, faux reptile skin shoes and to bold nail varnishes, the options are seemingly endless for the yellow fever trend rippling across the high street like radiating bursts of sunrays.

Don’t get me wrong, yellow is a fabulous colour if you can work it… but with my pale English rose complexion it does absolutely nothing for me. Colour is so vital to someone’s appearance, so knowing what suits you really does make a difference. As Donna Karen stated on vogue.com recently,  “Accent you’re positive and delete you’re negative”, which can be applied to colours, styles and silhouettes that personally make you feel and look wonderful.

Whether the prospects of wearing the colour yellow brings great joy to you, as it emphasizes summer is on the horizon or perhaps brings the inner fashionista in you to squirm, have no fear I have a couple simple yet statement solutions, ensuring you are working this seasons must have shade.

One of my rules as a fellow fashion lover is that no matter what colours is the next ‘must have’ shade to be adorned in, ensure it suits you and brings out your best. “But it is what everyone is wearing / it is the hottest hue on trend” I hear you say, well in response to that, no matter how on trend it is :

  1. Utilize the colour, adapt it, and think creatively.
  2. Think outside of the box.
  3. Incorporate the yellow hue through accessories, one of the key ways I filter colours I cannot wear into my daily attire.
  4. Alternatively find garments and styles that incorporate the bright bursts of yellow amidst other shades and patterns. (One way you could wear the colour if you do not want to feel left out of the yella craze.)

  5. Opt for another sassy core trending shade that is a must for the season. The beauty of fashion trends is that other shades are also brought to attention, ensuring there is something for everyone, such as this seasons soft powder blues, electric cobalt’s, hot oranges, exotic vibrant raspberry reds and bright pinks.                                                                                                                       So how are you going to wear the yellow sizzling sensation?
