Hello friends hope you are enjoying the first few days of 2016.  This year I'm kicking diets the curb and trying to focus more on being healthier, I've also recently discovered my inner hippie and I'm currently enjoying learning about a lot about natural remedies and how it improves your health.

Here are some a of my favourite remedies.

8 oz Glass of Fresh Orange Juice

1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
One glass every two hours (for six hours) to break fever. Remove certain flu symptoms. This is pretty nice tasting but if you do not like cayenne pepper you can substitute it with some freshly grated ginger.

1 litre filtered Water

1⁄2 cup Lemon Juice

1⁄2 cup Maple Syrup

Cayenne Pepper
The is perfect for a post Christmas detox as it aids in restoring health to body by stimulating the liver, kidney and getting rid of water retention. It is also a refreshing beverage.

1 medium Carrot

3 sticks of Celery

1 medium Beet

1/4 of a small Cabbage

1 Cucumber

2 handfuls of Spinach

a pinch Parsley

Juice ingredients with Juicer combine and drink. 

This smoothie is a great blood builder, cell booster as it an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A (in the form of carotenoids from the spinach), manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, copper, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, and vitamin C. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, phosphorus, vitamin B1, zinc, protein, and choline. The beets contain nitrates is good for lowering high blood pressure.

1⁄4 Fresh Grapefruit (with peeling)

1⁄2 Fresh Orange (with peeling)

1⁄2 Fresh Lemon (with peeling)

1⁄4 Large Onion

2 cloves of Garlic

1 pinch of Cayenne Pepper

Wash all fruit thoroughly. Blend all ingredients (with rinds) in a little distilled water. Mixture will have consistency of paste. Take 1Tbs, Chew well – eat every hour or as needed. 

Honesty time- this works well and will have you feeling better in no time but the taste is baaad! You can fix that though by adding some honey to the concoction.

4 medium-sized beetroot
4 Carrots
½ Lemon or 1 lime
Beetroot is one of the foods that are rich in iron, and carrots make the iron absorption easier. Wash and cut the beetroots, carrots and lemon. Run them through your juicer.  Once they are juiced, add the brewer’s yeast. Mix and drink. Drink this before breakfast to give you an iron boost all day long.

1 large grapefruit

2 oranges

1/4 lime

1/2 inch ginger root piece

Ok a drink promising to erase cellulite sounds like utter BS right??? I agree a drink can't erase cellulite but I promise you it improves the appearance of cellulite-lifting weights also works wonders just in case you were wondering.

Grapefruit juice is one of the best fat-burning foods and this drink works more efficiently when you also eat a healthy diet by eliminating processed and deep-fried foods, flour and sugar products, gravies and coffee. Drink first think in the morning and don’t drink if taking medication as grapefruit interferes with some medication.

1 cup of fresh grapefruit juice or 100% pineapple juice

2 Tbsp of lemon juice

3 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar

1 Tbsp raw honey

1 teaspoon of grated ginger(optional)

Another BS name but I like it. This works thanks to the apple cider vinegar, grapefruit and lemon juice by helping reduce the insulin spike after a high carb meal and increases satiety.(check out this link for the full gist) You can keep it up to 2 days in the fridge - drink 2  times a day before a meal.
