In Fashion Rut? 3 Easy Ways to Revamp to Your Wardrobe

I realised a while ago that I was in a fashion rut, my sense of style had become predictable and unexciting. This often happens after discovering and perfecting your personal style, you spend a long time trying to figure out what colours, style and shapes works best on you and when you know that, you stick with it. What happens after a while is all your clothes start looking similar and you soon get bored with your wardrobe.

Here are some ideas to help you get out of a fashion rut.

  1. Clean out your closet

I know this could be be quite boring but sometimes cleaning out your closet is the best thing you can do for your mind, body and Spirit. You'll realise what you have outgrown and what your wardrobe is lacking, it also helps you get dressed quicker and helps you know what exactly to buy on your next shopping trip.

2. Get an item that you would never wear

For me it was a pair of animal print trousers/skirt. Seems outlandish for my clean cut style but by pairing it with a plain black top or a white top for lovely summer days, I was able to be true to my clean cut style whilst taking a big risk!

4. Get inspiration from your favourite city abroad

Another to way to get out of your fashion rut is by getting inspiration from your favourite city abroad, for instance if your favourite city is Rome, you try to channel the 'Fare una bella figura' which means "to look good"or to dress gracefully or dress to impress. The typical lady from Rome always dresses elegant but stands out from the crowd, she is alway well groomed and invests in very high quality fashion peices. Channeling any city can definately help to get you out of your fashion rut. The easiest way to do this is by checking out some local bloggers as they are usually up to date with the local trends.
