SINGLE ON VALENTINES DAY- 8 FUN THINGS TO DO

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and I am not looking forward to it. I don’t understand  how something as precious as St Valentine's story could be cheapened  into a mainstream holiday, one that makes people in a relationship spend  ridiculous amounts of money; social media show-offs bragging  about all the amazing things they got and single people feeling left out like a lonely puppy in the rain!
Well guys if you are single or just not into the whole Valentine's Day shenanigan, here are some fun things you can do by yourself or with a friend:

GO FOR AFTERNOON TEA WITH A FRIEND
I have lived in England for about 10 years and have only just discovered how amazing cream tea is. Maybe it is the warm scones, or the clotted cream and jam combo, or the gorgeous teacups, but something about going for afternoon tea makes you forget your problems or the fact that you are single – best of all you’re unlikely to bump into annoying couples ‘cos guys are not into it.

Try to book this in advance with a friend, so when V day comes around you've got plans and won't be tempted to feel sad and alone.
GO TO OR THROW A PARTY
While all the couples are out schmoozing over candlelit dinner, why not throw a dinner party for your single friends or go to a party and let your hair down. You may not feel like going out, but you won't regret it – just try not to get too drunk and go from damsel to desperate.

STAY HOME AND CREATE A VISION BOARD
This sounds like a weird thing to do, but it is not and you will thank me later. No one is perfect and we all having many things we like and want to achieve. Making a vision board helps you reach your goals or dreams, whether is it to meet Mr. Right, get your dream job or go on an exotic holiday.
There are numerous stories of how people have had their dream come true and it was exactly what they had on their board (worked for me). Instead of feeling sorry for yourself or going out to drown your sorrows, why not take a step towards achieving your dreams and goals by making a VISION BOARD. Then take it a step further by adding actions to those dreams. Learn how to make a vison board here and let these quotes below inspire you to take action.
  • "Do it, and then you will feel motivated to do it." - Zig Ziglar
  • “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”  - Mark Twain
  • “Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.” - Jules Renau
  • “I never worry about action, but only about inaction.” - Winston Churchill.
  • “Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference.” - Joel Barker
 HAVE A GIRLY SLEEPOVER

Invite some of your best girlies over for a NO BOYS ALLOWED sleepover. Grab some popcorn, watch a movie, braid each other’s hair, have pillow fights and other cliché sleepover activities.  And if you decide to HAVE A MOAN or rant, you will be in great company.

CATCH UP ON YOUR FAVOURITE SERIES
There is something about back to back episodes of your favourite series that takes you to another place mentally and makes you forget about the present and on Valentine's Day that is kind of a good thing. So if you decide you want to be alone on V day, with a great series like HOMELAND or NEW GIRL you won't feel lonely.
PLAY A VIDEO/ONLINE GAME
Get yourself stuck in some virtual reality gaming and forget that it is even Valentine's day. There are battles to be won, lands to conquer, points to gain, levels to reach and people to meet.  Best of all, Valentine's Day does not exist there!

DO THE SAME OLE
Valentines day is like any other day quite frankly and if you don't fancy making a big deal or acknowledging it that is fine and fun. Just carry on like it is any other day  and go through your daily routine ignoring all annoying people.

HIT THE HAY
Nothing beats a good Ole sleep to help you forget you are single and leave you looking beautiful and refreshed in the morning.  Fluff your pillows, light a candle, put on some relaxing music and let yourself drift off to sleep. Best of all it doesn't cost a penny and no one gets hurt!

And finally whatever you do, do not feel sorry for yourself, 'cos there is NOTHING wrong with being single.
Hugs xxx
